Attempted Extortion – Theft by Trickery

Officers responded to a call of a possible kidnapping. The victim reported that he had received a phone call concerning his grandson and a vehicle accident and were detaining the grandson. The caller proceeded to demand that the victim pay for the damages immediately or they would not let the victim’s grandson go. Responding officers located the grandson and ensured that he was not in danger.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle accident. The witness reported that he heard a loud noise and observed that a vehicle had crashed into another, parked, vehicle. The suspect then attempted to start the vehicle but the victim yelled at the suspect. The suspect looked at the witness and then started to run away from the scene on foot. A responding officer observed the suspect running and gave chase. The suspect was later located hiding behind several bushes and detained. After further investigation, the suspect was cited.

Officers responded to a report of a couple in an argument. Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect who stated that he and the victim had an argument because he was seeing another person and that the victim had left the location. The victim, who was observed with scratches on her, was located and confirmed the argument but also added that the suspect had grabbed her arm and placed her in a choke hold before she was able to escape. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.

Officers responded to a report of a person with a hatchet.  The officers located the person carrying the hatchet and were told that he had heard yelling and screaming from a nearby vehicle and went to investigate and took along the hatchet for protection.

The officers then approached the vehicle in question. Initially, the couple inside refused to unlock and open the vehicle’s doors but eventually complied after further conversation with the officers. The victim reported that they were taking a nap inside the vehicle but he could not find the car keys when he awoke. The victim confronted the suspect about the keys and an argument ensued. During the argument, the suspect slapped the victim on his face. The suspect refused to cooperate with the officers. A computer check on all parties revealed that the suspect has a warrant for her arrest. The suspect was arrested.
