On Monday, January 19, 2015, Taraval officers joined officers from other stations to help with traffic control for the annual march honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Participants gathered and organized at the CalTrain station. They sang and chanted during their one-and-a-half mile march to Yerba Buena Gardens. The event marks the 50th Anniversary since the initial Civil Rights Marches in Selma, Alabama.
Chief Greg Suhr and members of his administration joined the marchers. Officers on foot and on motorcycles ensured the march route was safe from vehicular traffic. Although the weather was overcast at the start of the march, the sky cleared and a sunny day greeted the marchers at Yerba Buena Gardens!
