Fireworks Are Illegal – Fireworks Abatement Plan

Please be aware that any sales, possession or use of fireworks within San Francisco city limits is illegal! Fireworks are known to be very dangerous and can cause severe injuries or major property damages. Please also keep a watchful eye on young children and pets as fireworks can also have a traumatic effect such as causing harm, stress or inducing panic.

As such, Taraval Officer’s will be enforcing all laws concerning the sale, possession or use of fireworks in the sunset and issuing citations or arrests for these violations. Captain Denise Flaherty has also set up a special task force including a Patrol Sergeant and Patrol Officers to address the current fireworks and explosions issue in the area of 41st Ave towards Great Highway / Irving St towards Noriega St. This task force will also be addressing any new firework violations that may come up. These officers will be vigilant and all violators will be cited or arrested. This special enforcement task force will begin several days leading up to the July 4th and will also continue for 30 days before re-evaluation for possible further enforcement.

Captain Flaherty welcomes any questions or comments, please email her at denise.flaherty@sfgov.org.

Have a wonderful (and safe!) July4th, San Francisco!
