{"id":1126,"date":"2013-12-19T15:09:52","date_gmt":"2013-12-19T23:09:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taraval.org\/?p=1126"},"modified":"2013-12-19T15:09:52","modified_gmt":"2013-12-19T23:09:52","slug":"holiday-weekend-dui-enforcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taraval.org\/?p=1126","title":{"rendered":"Holiday Weekend DUI Enforcement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.taraval.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/avoid_dui_01.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-869\" alt=\"avoid_dui_01\" src=\"http:\/\/www.taraval.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/avoid_dui_01.gif\" width=\"360\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a>San Francisco, CA \u2013 The San Francisco Police Department and its allied agencies are deploying officers this Friday at an Avoid checkpoint and Saturday at a sobriety checkpoint to arrest impaired drivers and to keep the public aware of the dangers of driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs.<\/p>\n<p>We are in the middle of the holiday season with many events in San Francisco, but if history repeats&#8230; drunk or drugged driving crashes will rise when reckless drivers take to the roadways impaired. Friends and families will gather for celebrations throughout the holiday season, often with alcohol. Law enforcement is reminding everyone to make plans now for those weekend trips and partying. Make sure to use a \u2018Designated Sober Driver\u2019 to prevent arrest or worse, a deadly driving tragedy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Law enforcement will conduct a DUI\/driver\u2019s license checkpoint on Friday, December 20th, from 8:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M and Saturday, December 21st from 8:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement region-wide is asking for everyone\u2019s support this summer:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan ahead. Arrange rides home for your friends, family, co-workers and yourself before the drinking begins.<\/li>\n<li>Those hosting celebrations and servers must limit drinks to your guests or patrons. Don\u2019t serve more than one or two over several hours.<\/li>\n<li>Identify and provide free non-alcoholic drinks to the Designated Sober Driver. For tasty drink recipes, visit the DDrink Mixology Center at www.facebook.com\/CaliforniaOTS.<\/li>\n<li>Cut back on the amount of drinks you plan to bring to the party \u2013 and provide plenty of food. \u2022 If you see dangerous driving, Report Drunk Drivers \u2013 Call 9-1-1!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Funding for the Avoid checkpoint is by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The San Francisco Police Department in conjunction with allied agencies will deploy checkpoints and DUI patrols throughout the winter season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>REPORT DRUNK DRIVERS!
