\"marked_veh_morning\"<\/a>Preliminary Statistics for 2014<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the Taraval Police District all of the Part 1 Crimes, such as homicide, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault were down in 2014 when compared to 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n

I also compared the last 5 years, 2010 to 2014\u2019s statistical data. In 2014, there were no homicides in the Taraval Police District. This is the first time in the last 5 years that this has occurred. The Taraval Police District also had the lowest number of robberies and aggravated assault in 2014 than it did in the previous 4 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Taraval Police District had the lowest Part 1 crime rate in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, burglaries, vehicle theft, and burglary theft from vehicles rose. This means that we need to do better. We have conducted numerous operations with officers in uniform and in plainclothes to try to catch these criminals, but it very difficult as the district is so large.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s better if these crimes never happen. So what can you do?<\/span><\/p>\n

For Burglaries:<\/span><\/strong>
\n – Install cameras on your house.<\/span>
\n – Put timers on different lights throughout the interior and exterior of the house.<\/span>
\n – Don\u2019t tell people that you\u2019ll be out of town either through social media or your answering machine.<\/span>
\n – Have newspaper, mail, and deliveries held or picked up by someone you trust.<\/span><\/p>\n

For Burglary Theft from Vehicles:<\/span><\/strong>
\n – Leave nothing visible in the car.<\/span>
\n – Keep the car locked, including the doors and trunk.<\/span>
\n – Keep packages locked in your car\u2019s trunk while shopping. Move your car to a different location each time you pack in more items.<\/span><\/p>\n

Car Theft:<\/span><\/strong>
\n – Try to park in well lit areas at night.<\/span>
\n – Use a steering wheel type locking device.<\/span>
\n – Install a car alarm<\/span>
\n – Lock your car when you leave.<\/span>
\n – Park inside or in an attended lot if possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Join the SFPD<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe SFPD is accepting continuous applications for entry level police officers.<\/span>
\n To apply:<\/span>
\n – Go to www.jobapps.com\/sf<\/span>
\n – Go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, choose law enforcement, and register to take the San Francisco exam. It costs $45.00, but financial assistance is available.<\/span>
\n – Choose an available exam date and schedule your exam<\/span>
\n – You will receive an email confirming your exam date, time and location.<\/span><\/p>\n

But what if you already have a job that you can\u2019t give up, but want to be a police officer too. You can apply to become a reserve officer for the San Francisco Police Department.<\/span>
\n The Police Reserve Officer Program is comprised of community members, who wish to volunteer as a Police Officer. These officers supplement the full-time officers in a variety of duties throughout the Department. They patrol in vehicles, on foot patrols, or on bicycle patrol. Most Reserve Officers work with officers, but others can qualify to patrol on their own. This program is ideal for individuals who have an established career and do not wish to make a full transition to full-time Police Officer. Reserve Officers can enjoy the best of both worlds and maintain their chosen career while helping to police an internationally known city.<\/span>
