If children\u00a0are mature enough to be out without supervision, they should stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Keep Costumes Creative and Safe<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> * Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers. Dark colors are harder for drivers to spot.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> * Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> * When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Drive Extra Safely on Halloween<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> * Slow down and be especially alert. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> * Popular trick-or-treating hours are 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. so be especially alert for kids during those hours.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> * Don\u2019t drink and drive.
