Battery – Case# 260539196

The victim told officers that, one day earlier, he had gotten into a verbal altercation with an unknown suspect who lives in the same building. The victim stated that he made a comment about the suspect’s dog, and the argument escalated, with both parties calling each other racial slurs. The suspect then punched the victim and left the scene.

Child Neglect – Case# 260540563

19th Ave & Chester Ave
Officers responded to a report of a child being left alone. The witness told officers that she was doing laundry inside the laundromat when she was approached by a child who was barefoot and had a soiled diaper. The child asked the witness for food. The witness located the child’s mother, who was asleep inside a vehicle. After knocking on the vehicle numerous times, the mother did not wake up. Officers approached the vehicle and observed the mother inside with another child. Officers also observed drug paraphernalia near where the mother was seated. Medical personnel were contacted to evaluate the children. The children were later transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The mother was arrested. Child protective services were notified.
