On Friday March 20, 2015, Captain Curtis Lum of Taraval Station joined District 4 Supervisor Katy Tang in holding a question-and-answer session with the senior citizens who frequent the South Sunset Senior Center. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Captain Lum and Supervisor Tang regarding crime trends. Most questions posed by the senior citizens were about scams and property crimes. Officer Charlie Chan and Legislative Aide Ray Law interpreted for audience members who were more fluent in Chinese.
District 8 Supervisor Scott Weiner-who represents neighborhoods such as the Castro and Glen Park, also attended the question-and-answer session. He wanted to see firsthand how Supervisor Katy Tang and Captain Curtis Lum reaches out to the senior citizens of the Sunset neighborhoods. Supervisor Weiner was warmly received by those in attendance. He thanked them for helping to elect Supervisor Tang whom he described as collaborative and collegial.
