Arson – Arrested

1100 Ocean Ave
Officers responded to a report of an incident of arson. A witness reported that the suspect was observed lighting a newspaper stand on fire and was able to produce the first name of the suspect. A second witness also produced security videos which showed the suspect lighting the stand on fire. Based on the description given by the witness, officers located the suspect by his clothing and detained him.  After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.

Shoplifting – Warrant Arrest – Arrested

Officers responded to a report of a shoplifting incident. The witness reported that the suspect was acting suspiciously and was observed placing several items under her arm before proceeding to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. A computer check revealed that the suspect had a warrant for her arrest. The suspect was arrested.

Warrant Arrest – Arrested

3300 Ortega St
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the playground. The witness reported that the person had been loitering near a children’s play area and believed that he may have had a knife. Responding officers located the suspect and a computer check revealed that the suspect had two warrants for his arrest out of San Louis Obispo. A search did not locate a knife in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was arrested.

Battery – Arrested

Officers responded to a report of a incident of battery. Responding officers made contact with the victim, who was in the Emergency Room, and were told that the victim was feeding his son over a rug but wanted to move over to eating over the hardwood floor instead. The son refused and the victim attempted to wake up the suspect to help move the son. The suspect refused to get up, despite the victim’s persistence, and eventually angrily kicked and punched the victim. The suspect declined to answer question and after further investigation, the suspect was arrested.

Elder Abuse – Robbery – Vandalism

Officers responded to a report of an argument between a mother and son. The victim reported that the suspect, her son, had been living with her sporadically for the last three years. Earlier, the suspect asked the victim for money to pay for medications to help with the withdrawals from being on drugs. The victim gave the suspect $20 but the suspect  demanded more. An argument ensued with the suspect struggling for control of the victim’s purse. The victim broke away and hid in the bathroom. The suspect chased her and threatened to break down the door if she did not give him more money. The victim slipped an additional $40 under the door and the suspect left.
