Officers responded to a report of a suspect who was yelling, screaming and shoving shopping carts over. Responding officers located the suspect, who was observed breaking a piece of wood into a stick and boarding an occupied MUNI bus with it. The officers attempted to talk the suspect into dropping the stick but the suspect refused. The officers deployed pepper spray and detained the suspect without further incident. The suspect was then transferred to a nearby hospital for a mental evaluation.
