API Forum Donates a Trailer to the SFPD Mounted Unit!

api_stable_01On Wednesday, November 19, 2014, the SFPD Mounted Unit held a barbecue to thank the SFPD Asian Pacific Islander (API) Forum for its generous donation of a brand new horse trailer. The trailer was needed by the Unit to ensure its horses can be properly and safely transported for various reasons. The event was held at the Mounted Unit’s horse stables in the Golden Gate Park. Retired Deputy Chief M. Biel, Commander G. Tom, and Captain A. Mannix-commanding officer of SFPD Tactical Company that includes the Mounted Unit, praised the selfless donation by the members of the API Forum.

Taraval’s Captain Lum, who is the chairperson of the API Forum, was also present at the event. The API Forum was founded as an advisory group under the leadership of former Police Chief George Gascón.

The Forum’s membership is comprised of stakeholders in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities of San Francisco. For example, there are forum members who work in the media that serve the Asian-American communities. The Forum holds fundraisers for selfless causes, raises awareness of issues affecting the Asian and Pacific Islander communities, and facilitates community events.
