The ‘Blessing’ Scam has surfaced again in the SF Chinese neighborhoods. Suspects prey on the elderly and vulnerable members of the Chinese Community in this particular scam. Victims are approached and are told their valuables can be blessed with good fortune. Of course the victims must surrender their valuables to the suspects in the first place.
* Be aware of strangers
* Be aware of strangers who ask for what appears to be legitimate
* Be aware ESPECIALLY when a stranger asks for money
* Do not follow a stranger anywhere
* Do not bring a stranger home
* Do not bring a stranger to your bank to withdraw money or take out valuables
* Discuss with family member when taking out large sum of money and valuables
* Stay calm if there is any suspicious activities
* Dial 911 immediately
