Missing Person Found by Taraval Station

On Tuesday, January 24, 2017 San Francisco resident John Stoich was reported missing when he failed to show up for work. Because of medical reasons, officers from Taraval Police Station began an immediate and extensive search. Members of the Taraval Station Investigative Team and members of the SFPD Special Victims Unit Missing Persons Detail also began an extensive investigation.

Over the weekend, SFPD Taraval patrol officers and family members of Mr. Stoich launched an exhaustive and unsuccessful search of Golden Gate Park in an effort to locate him. During this time, investigators from the SVU Missing Persons Unit released Missing Persons flyers in San Francisco and Marin County. Using a number of investigative techniques Taraval Station Investigators were able to determine that Mr. Stoich was possibly riding the Bart and Muni system in the last 5 days. Bay Area Rapid Transit Police Department and Municipal Transportation station agents were notified that Mr. Stoich could possibly be utilizing their respective transit systems.

Shortly after midnight on Monday January 30th, Taraval Police Station, Sergeant Scott Hom found Mr. Stoich within the Balboa Park BART Station facility. Emergency services were summoned for Mr. Stoich who was then transported to a medical facility for evaluation and reunification with his family members.
